I finally did it...

Yes, ladies and gentlemen. Well...probably mostly ladies. But there could be a few dudes. I digress. My point is: I decided to join the world of blogging. After a year or so of keeping up with other people by reading their blogs ( I refuse to call myself a stalker...there are criminal repercussions for those kind of things, y'all!), I felt this was a good way for family and friends (and people tired of reading about Claire on Facebook) that live far away to keep up with us. I'm admittedly not good at keeping in touch, so here's my lazy solution! Bear with me as I learn all the tricks to make this blog something pretty that you actually want to look at; for now it's a work in progress. In the meantime, if you happened upon this and you don't know us, let me introduce you!

This is my handsome husband, Devin. He's 24 and was born and raised in the town we live in now. We became best friends working together, and the rest is history. Funny story: I actually couldn't stand Devin when I first met him. He introduced himself to me SEVEN different times (I'm obviously not very memorable) which came off to me as really conceited. As the new guy at the department, I wasn't willing to give him the benefit of the doubt at the time, but I've never been more happy to be wrong about someone! He is an incredible man and a super hard worker. Devin is a great people-person; he can talk to anybody. He loves being a new daddy and doing crafty woodworking projects. He likes going shooting and being outdoors, and he's a diaper changing machine!

This is me...I'm Jessyka. I'm 28 and I moved to Central Texas from a small town in East Texas after I graduated college. I have a degree in Agriculture that I would desperately love to use, but with the budget issues the state is having (who isn't, these days?) I'm not hopeful for anything soon. I've been a 9-1-1 dispatcher for seven years. If we're being honest, I don't have a passion for my job like I used to, but I'm good at it and it pays the bills. I love old dance halls and history. I'm the queen of random trivia, and I have no idea how I know half the stuff I do. But it makes me look like a wizard when I watch Cash Cab. I've got a bit of sass, a random sense of humor, and I tend to tell it like it is. I'm working on my internal filter. I have conversations in movie quotes, so I'm sure you'll see those frequently around here. My new role as a mommy is something I'm always learning about. I never imagined a tiny human could fill me with such love while scaring the daylights out of me at the same time.

This is our Claire Bear. She's obviously already got a little personality of her own. She's always making the funniest faces! Claire is such a blessing. She's so strong, holding her head up like a champ. She loves baths, car rides and Mommy and Daddy singing to her. She doesn't know many tricks yet, but she definitely keeps us on our toes! She is nine weeks old and growing like a weed. At her two month check up this past week she weighed 11 lbs., 6 oz. and was 23 1/2 inches long! I'm sure Claire is the reason most of y'all will want to read this anyway, so I'll be sure and post lots of stories and pictures about her.

So that's our little family. I'm really looking forward to sharing our adventures with y'all. Thanks for stopping by! You stay classy, Blog World :o)
