Weekend Update

So I'm lame and didn't take any pictures, but we had a great weekend! On Friday Claire and I hung out and caught up from me being at work the previous two days. She was up bright and early that morning. I was less than thrilled, as I have never been a morning person, but she was all smiles so I couldn't be mad. Friday night we had our friends/neighbors Josh and Angela over for dinner. I whipped up some chicken fried steak and gravy with mashed potatoes and salad. It was pretty amazing if I do say so myself! After dinner we watched The Fighter. Ok, y'all, please don't stone me for this. I wasn't that impressed with it. After hearing all the Oscar hype about this film, I had pretty high standards. Don't get me wrong, the acting was phenomenal. But the story just seemed to drag a little. To be totally fair though, we didn't even start the movie until 10:00. I'm usually asleep by then. Anyway, that's just my two cents. Saturday, Claire and I met up with my grandma in Round Rock to do some shopping. Carter's, Gymboree and Osk Kosh were all having sales, so Claire came home with some super cute outfits.

Saturday night after Claire went to bed, Devin's parents came and sat with her so that he and I could have some time to ourselves. Our grand plan was dinner and a movie, but after a 40 minute wait for some delicious crawfish, we decided we were too tired to sit through a movie. Instead we went to DQ for some ice cream cones, then headed over to the park and swung on the swings for a bit before heading home. It was nothing extravagant, but I had a blast. Plus, I really treasure the times we get to spend giving each other our undivided attention. Several very wise friends told me before Claire was born that she would become my world when she got here (and they were right) but to make sure I continued to put our marriage first in order to build a strong foundation for her. That seems to be much easier said than done in the day-to-day of our busy life, but something I try to take to heart. I hate, though, that there never seems to be enough hours in the day to do everything I'd like to in order to make sure both Claire and Devin know how much I love them.

Sunday flew by! We went to church, grabbed lunch, did some grocery shopping then headed to my grandparent's for one of my sisters' birthday dinner. We got home late, which made it hard to get Claire down to sleep, but had a really nice time.

That pretty much sums it up. Hope y'all had a great weekend!

  1. Glad you had a great time with your little girl and a great time with Devin. My dad has always said, "In order for things to work in life this is the way it's gotta be. God first, you, your spouse and then your children, your job, and so forth. In order for you to be happy you have to have your creator first and foremost in your life. Things might not always be easy but at least you have that solid foundation. You also have to make time for your spouse. I think too that sometimes the little things mean more to me than anything else. I think it's cute that y'all just spent time together. Keep doing it, follow God and I do believe that your life will be complete. LOVE you and thanks for sharing! <3
